TANAKA to celebrate the opening of its second location by giving away 100 free donuts on August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th

August 1, 2023 —TANAKA, a Japanese-inspired restaurant and bakery announces the opening of its second location on August 22nd, 2023 as part of a $35 million refresh to Bridgeport Village. The restaurant opens to the public on August 22nd, beginning normal operating hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Since 2008, TANAKA’s sister restaurant in Tokyo, Kushikatsu Tanaka, has served a popular Osaka dish called “kushikatsu”—deep-fried skewered meats and vegetables—with their famous katsu sauce on the side. Just over a year ago, the CEO of TANAKA, Taichi Ishizuki, brought this famous 70-year-old Tanaka family katsu sauce stateside with the opening of the first TANAKA location in Portland, OR.

Today TANAKA serves an all-day breakfast and lunch menu with delightful ingredients sourced in the Pacific Northwest. The menu features Katsu Sandos, Japanese-inspired baked goods, donuts, and coffee made with a coffee blend carefully curated in partnership with Portland’s own Good Coffee.

Along with the opening at Bridgeport Village, TANAKA has confirmed plans to open its third location at the Alta Civic Station in Gresham, OR this winter.
