CenterCal Properties welcomes two new restaurants to Bridgeport Village
Tanaka and Shake Shack to open this year

May 30, 2023 — Bridgeport Village, Oregon’s preeminent fashion and lifestyle shopping center by CenterCal Properties, is thrilled to welcome two new dining options to its already diverse range of eateries. This year, the property will open Tanaka and Shake Shack as part of a multimillion-dollar renovation of the shopping center. The restaurants will enhance the center’s wide assortment of eatery options, allowing guests to satisfy any craving or occasion.

“With the addition of these restaurants, we’re excited to continue to bring new dining options to Bridgeport Village that complement our existing line-up of best in class local, regional and national food and beverage offerings,” said Erika Plummer, Vice President of Leasing for CenterCal Properties. “Tanaka Bakery and Shake Shack will add to the center’s long-standing reputation as a popular dining destination.”

Consistent with a tradition of featuring best-in-class retail, restaurants and entertainment, the two eateries selected to open in Bridgeport Village each offer a distinctive culinary experience. Equipped with both indoor and covered outdoor patio seating, visitors are now able to enjoy the outdoors all four seasons with new covered canopies.

In May 2022, CenterCal Properties embarked on a $35 million project to elevate and modernize Bridgeport Village, which serves as a multigenerational community gathering place. As the refresh nears completion, visitors are now able to fully enjoy all four seasons of shopping with new covered canopies and fireside seating, renovated facades and a park-like Village Green surrounded by a community stage and nature-inspired play area. The ongoing upgrades are a testament to the dedication of enhancing guest visits, ensuring that each time they step foot in the Village, there's something new and exciting to discover.

Tanaka
Inspired by Osaka, Japan, and established in downtown Portland, Tanaka brings Japanese comfort food and artisanal baking to the Pacific Northwest. The Bridgeport Village location marks its first expansion effort, and similar to its flagship location, this new space will be open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner menus featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a selection of beer and wines and sakes.

“At Tanaka, we are inspired by the traditional flavors of Japan and the contemporary essence of the Pacific Northwest to create a unique and memorable dining experience,” said Taichi Ishizuki, CEO of Tanaka International Inc. “Bridgeport Village is fostering a dynamic culinary scene, and we look forward to being part of its compelling development.”

Tanaka’s menus feature sweet and savory options. A focus is on katsu and a 70-year-old katsu sauce recipe, which vie for attention with shokupan bread, a light and fluffy milk bread baked in-house daily. Pastries are infused with flavors found in Japanese cuisine, and the house coffee is a premium blend created in partnership with Portland’s roasters at Good Coffee.

Shake Shack
Shake Shack is opening its third location in Oregon at Bridgeport Village, bringing the outdoor lifestyle center a taste of its elevated versions of American classics. Shoppers will be able to enjoy made-to-order Angus beef burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, hand-spun milkshakes, house-made lemonades and more inside the restaurant, under its covered outdoor patio or perched next to the restaurant’s fireplace. Shake Shack’s purpose is to Stand For Something Good®, from its premium ingredients and employee development, to its inspiring designs and deep community investment. Since the original Shack opened in 2004 in NYC’s Madison Square Park, the Company has expanded to nearly 460 locations system-wide, including approximately 300 in 32 U.S. States and the District of Columbia, and approximately 160 international locations across London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City, Istanbul, Dubai, Tokyo, Seoul and more.

“We are thrilled to open Shake Shack Bridgeport Village and expand our Oregon footprint,” said Andrew McCaughan, Chief Development Officer at Shake Shack. “Beaverton and Downtown Portland welcomed us warmly, and we can’t wait to bring our signature hospitality and premium take on the classics to Bridgeport Village. Our team is eager to welcome the community to our great patio and serve up delicious ShackBurgers, Shakes, and Veggie Burgers later this year.”
